Homestead-Miami Speedway is an astonishingly beautiful 434-acre facility located 25 minutes south of Miami International Airport. With the skyline of Miami visible to the Northeast, the Speedway is in one of the most ideal locations of any Speedway in America. Considered by many as one of the most beautiful race tracks in the country, the track reflects the art deco district of downtown Miami with its use of vibrant colors.

Groundbreaking took place on Aug. 24, 1993, less than one year after Hurricane Andrew devastated the town. Grand Opening ceremonies were held Nov. 3-5, 1995, as NASCAR made its South Florida debut in front of a sold-out grandstand. The racing at Homestead was initially considered not very good by most race fans, as it produced lower speeds and single file racing. The speedway answered critics in 2003 by reconfiguring the track to increase the banking from 6 degrees to 20 degrees of variable banking.

Shortly after the reconfiguration of the track, lights were installed to allowe night racing fo the first time. The renovations were praised by the fans, and was enough to secure the Homestead-Miami Speedway as the host to the Ford Championship Weekend, the final races of the season in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, Busch Series, and the Craftsman Truck Series.
